Collaborative Projects
Collaborative partnerships between teacher-librarian and teacher and inquiry -based learning go hand-in-hand. Collaborative planning and teaching is a process whereby the teacher-librarian and teacher work together as co-partners in the design, implementation, and assessment of inquiry-based learning opportunities. It also includes the purposeful integration of resources and skills or competencies required for students to successfully utilize the materials and meet the learning outcomes.
*Information literacy skills * Technology skills *Media skills *Reading/literacy strategies *Digital citizenship skills *etc.
One such project has been the collaboration with Mme Beatch who teaches 5/6 English Language Arts. We worked together to lead the students in an inquiry based project about Aboriginal history. They learned the writing process of a story, historical fiction as a genre and graphic novels as a medium. They put together ideas from their research and created on-line graphic novels in Sway.
